K–12 Education Workshops

AIR provides support for single session workshops and studio tours for K12 educators and their students.

AIR can organize on-site workshops for small classes that can range from a short field trip to 4-hour hands on printing sessions. (For information about larger more curricular projects see the “projects” section below).

Single session workshops can include a studio tour and discussion about printmaking processes (relief, intaglio, lithography, screenprinting, digital) alongside examples of those processes, demonstrations of technical aspects of processes, and/or hands on printing with students (screenprinting often works best for hands on printing sessions).

For single session workshops 6 to 12 students are ideal (more are possible) and it is most often easiest to process 2 to 4 images and have students take turns printing. Sessions must be prescheduled, and images must be processed at least a week in advance so images must be chosen and files must be sent well in advance to the session.

We can come to you

It is possible for AIR to take these kinds of single session workshops on the road and come to your school. This takes a bit more planning so let us know if this is of interest. You can get a bit more information about how this works for us in the “Community Printing Projects” section.

Pricing

Pricing for these sessions is based primarily on materials used and labor time scheduled so there is room to work around budgets. A brief tour can often be done for free, and a 4-hour session complete with hands-on printing can usually be done for $500 or less.

Workshops are tailored to the needs of the educator so please fill out the form below and give us a bit of information about what you are thinking, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
