Open Portfolio Regional University Printmaking Showcase 2025

  • Artists Image Resource 518 Foreland Street Pittsburgh, PA, 15212 United States (map)

Join us on Saturday March 29 from 1 to 4pm to view and discuss work with young artists and printmakers from several regional universities, K12 schools in Pittsburgh and independent artists working locally.

This will be the third year that AIR has organized this event, and several universities have been involved including West Virginia University, Penn West University Edinboro, Penn West University California, Slippery Rock University, Youngstown State University, Kent State University, Point Park University, The Community College of Allegheny County, The University of Pittsburgh and others.

Most printmakers know of “Open Portfolio” events presented at print conferences, fairs and other print related gatherings. These events allow student printmakers to review work from their portfolios with other students, print professionals and the public.

AIR puts its own spin on the Open Portfolio by including table and wall space for young artists to display work, and by inviting K12 students and educators as well as local arts and culture professionals to be part of the event.

At this event the public can see and buy new work by young artists working in the area, young artists can discuss academic opportunities with area university representatives, faculty and students, graduates can find resources in the community to help them further their careers in the arts, local arts organizations can find new program participants and potential employees and young artists working in the region can see new work being created by their peers and get to know their colleagues.

There will be demonstrations of large-scale relief and screenprinting as well as hands-on printing activities organized and designed by AIR crew and student participants. There will be plenty of work to see and new work to purchase and own.

This year we are organizing spaces for individual artists to get involved even if they are not affiliated with a school or university. Follow the link below for more information about how to get involved.
