About the Project
In the year 2000, Artists Image Resource (AIR) became involved in a project entitled “Master Artists, Master Printers” organized by the Experimental Printmaking Institute (EPI) at Lafayette College in Easton Pennsylvania. EPI Director Curlee Raven Holton chose several printshops in the Northeastern United States and challenged the printers in the studios to create two new bodies of work, one with an established “master artist” and another created by the printers at the studios.
Richard Anuszkiewicz was paired with Artists Image Resource and printers Ian Short and Robert Beckman decided that they would work together collaborating on a suite of prints. Mr. Anuszkiewicz decided to print a triptych so Mr. Short and Mr. Beckman decided to do the same.
The prints here designed and printed by Mr. Short and Mr. Beckman entitled “Palimpsest” are screenprints that were created by organizing several image layers each of which was printed in different sequences with different colors to create the three prints.
