About the Project
In 2023 Artists Image Resource worked with Mary Martin to investigate her multi-generational artmaking practice.
Numerous small editions of multi layered screenprints were created as part of the project and an exhibition was mounted in December of 2023.
This project was partially funded by the Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh Initiative of the Pittsburgh Foundation.

About Mary Martin
Her artwork has been exhibited in art galleries and cultural institutions in Arizona, California, Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Her artwork includes ceramic, collage, printmaking, metal, and glass mediums. Locally, she is a member of Women of Visions, Inc., a Pittsburgh based arts collective of African American women visual artists. She is also an active member of the Yan Taru Muslim Women’s Educational and Charitable organization, Muslim Women’s Association of Pittsburgh. She has also served on the Board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Pittsburgh Chapter (CAIR Pgh).
She is actively involved in coordinating and collaborating on educational programming, grant writing, and special projects initiatives for organizations such as: August Wilson Center for African American Culture of Pittsburgh, the Andy Warhol Museum, Women of Visions, Inc., The Society for Contemporary Craft, and Winchester Thurston School. She has served on special projects and programming committees for the August Wilson Cultural Center and the Andy Warhol Museum. She has also curated and consulted on various art exhibits for Women of Visions, Inc., the Heinz History Center, the Warhol Museum, The Society for Contemporary Craft, and the August Wilson Center for African American Culture of Pittsburgh. She has served on artist review panels to select art fellowships for the August Wilson Center Fellowship Program. She has also served on review panels to select artist grants for the Heinz Endowments Small Arts Initiatives Programs and Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh Programs, The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Multicultural Arts Initiative, and the Ohio Arts Council.
