William Fick
About the Project
In 2009, supported by a grant from the Milton Fine Foundation, Artists Image Resource initiated an AIR Resident project with William Fick. During the course of the project Mr. Fick explored a number of ideas and processes including relief etching, letterpress and screenprinting.
After a number of initial experiments with AIR’s crew, Bill settled on the creation of a number of small letterpress coloring books, a number of larger hand colored screenprints depicting the various characters from the coloring books, and some large scale hand colored screenprinted heads.
During Bill’s time at AIR we also executed a large installation in AIR’s screenprinting garage printing the large format heads from the prints onto the floor of the garage. This installation remained on the garage floor for a number of years.
